FACILITATION

I was fortunate enough to be elected to the Board of a shoe retailing company with 230 stores in South Africa very early in my career.

That experience taught me that my true calling was about the development of people.

I returned to the UK and built on the training skills that I had already acquired and over the subsequent years have broadened and deepened my craft. Fairly early on, I read Ran Charan’s book ‘The Leadership Pipeline’ and was struck by the challenges we all face when promoted to leadership positions – from having the ability to let go and let others do the work, through to developing a great team and taking a long term perspective. Many of the programmes that I have designed and/or run deal with these core themes.

More recent years have enabled me to consider the impact of different cultures – both national and organisational – and I have been fortunate enough to run programmes in more than 30 countries.

Most recently, the need to change our leadership styles in line with our volatile and complex world has featured large in my work. The world corona pandemic has underlined this need for us all. The mindset and skill to lead compassionately and virtually are now key items on my agenda.

Over my career, I have grown from a trainer into a facilitator and coach. I am proud to be part of a team that delivers programmes for large corporate clients, and I am able bring that perspective and knowledge to one-to-one coaching sessions. My ethos as a facilitator is to find out what my audience needs and wants, and to tailor the material to meet their needs.
